Hey Guys/Gals Is This A Good Buy? Arsenal AK47

Its an Arsenal AK47 and from what I read, Arsenal is one of, if not, the best AK47 you can buy. Its pricey but should I pull the trigger on it? I dont know how to send a 'hard copy' of my dealer's FFL license so maybe I can get him to order it for me and do it that way. Anyway, heres the link and a photo...

I coudnt find an Arsenal on Atlantic and will these accept all AK magazines as well? Thanks for any input and advice! Also it says they will ship to CA which I know they are a little different configurations than one I can buy in Texas so this isnt some BS fixed mag or anything like that is it?

Aresenals are good AK's.

Get your FFL to fax over a copy of their license to the seller, thats a "hard copy" and sufficient for transfers.

That is a terrible buy.
DO NOT BUY THAT!!!!!

Please go here is you are interested in an Arsenal converted Saiga. They start at $499.

I would head on over to the AK section of AR15 for pricing and selection questions. You will find far more up to date info there than you will here.

IMO Arsenal Ak's are the best quality AK's currently available in the US. They will accept all of the standard AK mags. They are pricey but there is the saying, "buy cheap, buy twice". Bx3

Thankfully that auction is dead. I was worried the OP might go ahead with that deal before checking in here.

Prices are down across the board for AKs...and that one is high, even for an Arsenal.

Lancaster AKs are nicely done: http://www.lancasterarms.com/NEW%20S...D%20RIFLE.html

Go for the converted Saiga. Lancaster is good, but they are surplus parts guns. The Saiga is all brand new manufactured parts. And at $499 you really can't beat it. Lancaster is going to run you at least $100 more. Ask yourself what you are getting for that extra money? $100 is 500rds of x39 or 8-10 30rd mags.

That seller in that auction is using the arsenal name to rip people off. Saigas are russian guns and these ones are converted by arsenal. They are not the same as the US made AKs that arsenal manufactures. They are good quality though. Check out the AK section of AR15.com and you can find lots of reviews and pictures form people who have bought them. Right now, these Arsenal converted Saigas are the best bang for the buck.

Who is the builder? I can't find it listed anywhere. When it comes to parts guns, the builder is the most important factor. The extra $70 is well worth it avoid the possible frustration of a poor quality build.

Go to Kvar. They have the exact same gun you were looking at for $499.

I talk to Chet Durda of Lancaster Arms face to face, and he says he has a military contract so he can import new barrels and parts. Most all of his builds are new. Call and ask.

Century is making the recievers, Green Mountain makes the barrels

They are probably not bad. From what I understand century is doing a decent job recently.

Personally I would try to swing the extra $70.

Yeah, ive heard good and bad about century, but it seems they've shaped up the last couple years and arent as hit and miss as they once were. It comes with lots of nice tap co parts and a Tapco FCG too.

I wish I could swing it though, but it was tough enough scraping this up and my wife might do some swinging of her own :favorites21:

Not married, but I can relate to having to make do with what you got. Most people seem to report being quite pleased with the 1975 GP. It is 922r compliant, so while it comes with tapco mags, you can use the surplus combloc mags. They are much nicer and really the only way to go.

Yeah, a good friend of mine has the same GP and hasnt had a bad thing to say about it yet. Found a good horde of surplus mags Ill be picking up next week as money permits. Should have gun in hand by the end of this week. I'll put some pics up and give a range report when i can make it to a range.
